According to former Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill, Merrick Garland will “go down in infamy as one of the worst attorney generals in this country’s history if former President Trump isn’t held accountable for the January 6th Capitol riot.” On the other hand, Senator McCaskill will most likely be going down in Missouri history as its worst senator of all time.
McCaskill was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2006. While the second female senator to have represented Missouri, she is the first female candidate to actually have been elected to the Senate from Missouri. (And that’s important because…?) The first female senator was actually Jean Carnahan who was appointed to the Senate upon the death of her husband, Mel Carnahan. Mr. Carnahan died in an airplane crash while campaigning for the Senate. He won the election posthumously.
In 2006, McCaskill was able to defeat the Republican incumbent, Senator Jim Talent, with the aid of outside interests who managed to place embryonic research on the same ballot. The voters were swayed by celebrities such as Michael J. Fox who touted that embryonic research would result in a cure for Parkinson’s and other causes of paralysis such as that suffered by Superman actor Christopher Reeves. It was all bogus. But it worked. The Democrats turned out.
Re-elected in 2012, McCaskill was defeated in 2018 in her bid for a third term by Josh Hawley. McCaskill's biggest opponent wasn’t Hawley — it was herself. She always voted contrary to Missouri and the American Heartland’s best interests. She backed Barack Obama in 2008, dismissing Hillary Clinton, then backed Clinton in 2016. She also cast the deciding vote for Obamacare. While she may have thought she was being consistent with her Democratic base, she was finally rejected by the Black voting blocks in St. Louis and Kansas City because they thought she spent too much time in rural districts. Actually, she spent too much time in D. C. as part of the “swamp.”
As continued evidence of her disregard for common-sense Missourians, she joined MSNBC in 2019. She now wants to prosecute Donald Trump for the January 6th protests.
You know Ms. McCaskill, Missouri voted FOR Donald Trump twice. He lost the last election due to voting irregularities created by Democrats and outside interests. The irregularities include the massive use of mail-in ballots for a Presidential election for the first time in American history.
On January 6th, Senator Josh Hawley attempted to object to the election results. According to Senator Hawley, “I cannot vote to certify the electoral college results on January 6th without raising the fact that some states, particularly Pennsylvania, failed to follow their own state election laws. And I cannot vote to certify without pointing out the unprecedented effort of mega corporations, including Facebook and Twitter, to interfere in this election, in support of Joe Biden. At the very least, Congress should investigate allegations of voter fraud and adopt measures to secure the integrity of our elections. But Congress has so far failed to act . . . For these reasons, I will follow the same practice Democrat members of Congress have in years past and object during the certification process on January 6 to raise these critical issues."
But things didn’t work out as intended. The legal protest outside the Capitol was hijacked by anti-American special interests. It is clear that the protestors were initially invited into Capitol by the Capitol Police, but some black clad operatives forced entry at other locations. The Capitol Police were completely unprepared for that day’s events. The overall responsibility for Capitol security rests with the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. She failed in her duty. The ensuing violent melee or “riot” was unfortunate but not an “insurrection.” But the Speaker blames the protestors and President Trump for the incident. It’s a way to avoid the blame by accusing the other side. It’s what she does best.
So, Ms. McCaskill you are still out of touch. Garland needs to go for other reasons, but primarily for violating his oath of office to “protect the Constitution.” Mitch McConnell and the Republicans were correct in keeping Garland off the Supreme Court. He is certainly not an independent jurist and appears to be an extreme partisan. So, Senator Tom Cotton was correct in asking the Attorney General to resign. And while we’re at it, anyone who refers to the January 6th protest as an “insurrection” and uses that for political persecution of the election protestors is violating the Constitution of the United States. And that is what you are doing Senator McCaskill. You are still not representing the common sense values of Missouri and the American Heartland. MSNBC is a good place for you.
