Something has gone very wrong in America. As a kid one of my favorite TV shows was “I Led Three Lives” starring Barry Sullivan. The FBI agents were heroes. The communists were the enemy. That was a very long time ago, a time of black and white television broadcasts with only three networks. Today the FBI has been tarnished by political subversion. That may be due to the past influence of J. Edgar Hoover and a sort of political payback by the far-left. I really don’t know. But there appears to be something very wrong now with respect to that agency’s actions outside the boundaries of the U. S. Constitution’s protections of American citizens.
The FBI is part of the Justice Department. That department and other government bureaucracies have also been infected by the Democratic Party’s penchant for political retribution, but the FBI is currently in the news. They now use criminal prosecution procedures, not civil prosecution procedures to make a public arrest then proceed with a trial before judges corrupted by political influence. Americans have witnessed this in the prosecution of Roger Stone, the investigation of Rudy Giuliani and the hunt for participants in the protests of the 2020 Presidential election that occurred at the U. S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Americans have seen the FBI and the Department of Justice use procedures in violation of the laws outlined in the U. S. Constitution. For example, the Justice Department alleged that retired, disabled Navy Lt. Commander, Thomas Caldwell was a member of a group called The Oath Keepers and that he helped organize that organization’s presence at the US Capitol on January 6th. Thomas wasn’t a member of the group. They alleged that he breached the Capitol building. He didn’t. But the FBI sent a SWAT team in full gear to arrest the 66-year-old disabled vet at his farm home at 5:30 am on January 19, 2021.
According to Caldwell, in an interview with Julie Kelly of American Greatness published on September 23, 2021, “Caldwell’s wife awakened him in a panic at 5:30 a.m., ‘The FBI is at the door and I’m not kidding,’ Sharon Caldwell told her husband. Caldwell, 66, clad only in his underwear, went to see what was happening outside his Virginia farm. Caldwell continued, “There was a full SWAT team, armored vehicles with a battering ram, and people screaming at me. People who looked like storm-troopers were pointing M4 weapons at me, covering me with red [laser] dots. Someone grabbed my legs and dragged me through the grass. They threw me face down on the hood of the car, kicked my legs apart, put a chain around my waist and put me in handcuffs.” Caldwell said he looked up to see Sharon, his wife of 22 years, dressed in her nightgown holding her hands up with a sock in either hand. She, too, was covered in red dots from the weapons aimed at her. Sharon, 61, begged to put on her socks before they forced her outside in the cold.
‘Father, please don’t let them kill my wife,’ Caldwell said through sobs. Caldwell was forced into the back of a police car for nearly 40 minutes; he asked several times what he was being charged with, but FBI agents refused to answer.”
The people that participated in the protests at the U. S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, were exercising their rights under the U. S. Constitution. Sure, some of the protestors breached the Capitol building and that was wrong. They defeated the very objective of the protest which was to support the legislators who were in the process of conducting a legal protest according to the U. S. Constitution. One unarmed protestor was killed by the Capital Police and some officers were injured. But this was not an insurrection. It was a political protest that got hijacked by its own naivete. It was disorganized, political dissent. It is spiteful or perhaps even evil to call it an “insurrection.”
On the other hand, the BLM, Antifa and anarchists who rioted and looted in the streets of America throughout 2020 and into 2021 were not legitimate protestors. Their goal was not reform. Their goal was, and still is, the destruction of America, the Republic and the values of the American Heartland.
That is where we are today. I dragged you through all of this recent history to ask you to do one thing. Call your members of Congress and ask them to find out-- “Who is authorizing and orchestrating these unlawful and potentially dangerous arrests and lengthy detentions of American citizens?” If you don’t feel brave enough to do this, then consider that the individual that essentially executed an unarmed protestor, Ashley Babbitt, was a Capitol Police Officer (Lt. Michael Byrd). The Capitol Police report to Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House.
