While many consider Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to be a master at managing political theater, you can’t help but wonder why she created her own opposition within the Democratic Party. Consider her committee placements of Representatives Jayapal and Omar from the states of Washington and Minnesota respectively.
Pramila Jayapal was born in India and is a naturalized American citizen. She spent most of her childhood in Indonesia and Singapore, immigrating to the U.S. in 1982, at age 16, to attend college. She earned a BA from Georgetown University and an MBA from Northwestern University. She became a prominent immigration activist who entered politics, serving as the U.S. Representative for the 7th congressional district of the State of Washington since 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, she represents most of Seattle, as well as some suburban areas of King County. She is the first Indian-American woman to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives. Jayapal co-chaired the Congressional Progressive Caucus from 2019 to 2021, henceforth serving as chair. She serves on both the Judiciary Committee and Budget Committee. While her religious beliefs are difficult to determine, she has been a champion for Muslim immigrants and her husband is believed to be a Buddhist.
Ilhan Omar was born in Mogadishu, Somalia and spent her early years in Baidoa, Somalia. Her mother died when she was two, so she was raised by her father and grandfather, who were moderate Sunni Muslims. She and her family fled Somalia to escape the Somali Civil War and spent four years in a refugee camp in Kenya near the Somali border. Her family secured asylum in the U.S. in 1995 and she became a U.S. citizen in 2000 when she was 17 years old. She graduated from North Dakota State University in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in political science and international studies. She has been serving as the U.S. Representative for the 5th congressional district of Minnesota since 2019. Her congressional district includes all of Minneapolis and some of its suburbs. Omar is the first Somali American and the first woman of color to represent Minnesota in Congress. She is also one of the first two Muslim women (along with Rashida Tlaib) to serve in Congress. Omar serves as the whip of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. A frequent critic of Israel, Omar supports the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. She is openly anti-Semitic. Nancy Pelosi has provided cover for her anti-Semism and assigned her to the committees and subcommittees on Education and Labor, Higher Education and Workforce Investment, Workforce Protection, Foreign Affairs, Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights and International Organization, International Development, International Organizations and Global Corporate Social Impact, and the Budget Committee.
The primary constituencies of these two Representatives are Seattle and Minneapolis. They did nothing to protect their constituencies during the BLM and Antifa riots in 2020. Both supported and continue to support efforts to de-fund the police. As a result, both these Democratically-controlled major cities are in serious trouble. While both Jayapal and Omar have faced racial prejudice in America, they have obviously overcome that bigotry and achieved the American dream. But they want to change America to something different. And that change does not include the traditional Judeo-Christian-based cultural values of the American Heartland and America in general. They represent a “tyranny of the far-left minority” now controlling the Democratic Party. So much for the magnificent leadership skills of Nancy Pelosi. She has sown the whirlwind that may destroy America.
