OPPOSITION TO COMMON SENSE

A Dishonorable Losing Position

It used to be called the Honorable Opposition. It had a purpose. The purpose was to moderate the party in power if it started to go off the “rails.” The “rails” are represented by the founding principles of the Nation—The Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.

The purpose of the opposition party was not to oppose the party in power just for the sake of opposition. Opposition is not a sound long-term policy. It has no positive benefit other than to slow down the implementation of the policies of the party in power if those policies are truly detrimental to the Nation. The Democrat party doesn’t understand that basic truth and neither does the legacy media. They are opposing good policies for opposition’s sake and that is contrary to Common Sense.

From a morality standpoint, Government is not perfect since it requires compromise. To move forward each party must usually give up something to gain something. So it gets down to deciding what is right and what is wrong for the Nation as a whole. Checks and balances were designed to slow things down and allow time to change or even reverse course if necessary. But to oppose good policy because it originated from the Trump Administration is contrarian, not democratic. It is a losing position.
