Upon Nancy Pelosi’s decision to pass on the minority leadership position following the Republican takeover of the House, the Democrats touted her as “the Best Speaker of the House in history.” Now that is a bit contrary to Chapter 4 of my book Persistent Evil: SOCIALISM—A Warning for the Millennial Generation. That chapter was titled, NANCY PELOSI-THE WORST SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE IN HISTORY. Now that seems to be a rather major difference of opinion.
Chapter 4 of that book begins with “Nancy Pelosi, (D-San Francisco) has had one singular accomplishment in over thirty years in Congress. She became the first female Speaker of the House of Representatives. That’s it. She would set the lowest bar for positive achievement of any politician with the exception of Barack Obama. She would prove to be self-centered, petulant, and power-hungry . . . As speaker, Pelosi presided over and contributed to some of the worst years in modern American history.”
With the political prosecution and illegal indictment of Donald Trump, the former Speaker of the House showed her true colors in a social media post that was the subject of a March 31, 2023 article by Victor Nava of the New York Post. An excerpt of that article follows:
“‘The Grand Jury has acted upon the facts and the law,’ Pelosi (D-Calif.), 83, wrote in her post. ‘No one is above the law, and everyone has the right to a trial to prove innocence,’ she added. ‘Hopefully, the former President will peacefully respect the system, which grants him that right.’
Her failure to recognize that Trump is granted the presumption of innocence, one of the most basic requirements of a fair trial and an internationally recognized human right by the United Nations, sparked criticism on the social media platform.
‘We don’t have to prove our innocence in America, Mrs. Pelosi,’ Harmeet Dhillon, a former Trump campaign legal adviser, gently reminded the California Democrat in a Twitter post.
In a much more forceful reaction, conservative radio talk show host Mark Levin derided Pelosi as a ‘moron’ and a ‘Stalinist’ over her post. ‘Stalinist Pelosi. Prove innocent? It’s innocent until proven guilty, moron. Or at least used to be,’ Levin raged. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) echoed Levin, tweeting, ‘The right to ‘prove innocence’? This is America, not Stalinist Russia.’”
She has dishonored her oath of office but will only be held to account with the progress of time, unless some brave member of the House files Articles of Impeachment. Sure, she is no longer Speaker, but then, Trump wasn’t President when she filed Articles of Impeachment on him. She just wanted that asterisk by his name in the history books. She deserves the same asterisk. She has been the worst Speaker of the House in American history. Her recent revealing of her ignorance of the Law just validates that fact.
