While FoxNews pundits looked for a breakthrough moment, they missed the obvious. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis assumed the role of the grownup in the room. While the Univision moderator appeared to be set on demeaning the United States, DeSantis stood up for America, followed closely by past South Carolina Governor and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley. The most correct debate arguments were those by the Governor of North Dakota, Doug Burgum, but he has no chance in this competition. He is an unknown but extremely successful businessman (or is it businessperson now?--who cares!) Burgum should be a cabinet advisor for sure.
Vivek Ramaswamy lost some ground. Some of the holes in his resume were filled by Haley, Tim Scott and the Fox moderators. It was not a good look for him. Tim Scott spoke well but lacks the pre-requisite executive experience, and as Haley pointed out, his legislative efforts, though sounding good, were largely unsuccessful. He needs more time in the Senate.
Former New Jersey Governor Christie attempted to remind everyone of the actual errors of the Trump Administration and this did not help former VP Mike Pence. Pence is just too nice of a guy for this type of political warfare, and that’s a shame. He has the experience but not the fire.
At this time, Trump leads in the polls, but he is still the same self-centered, self-aggrandizing, egotistical fake with really good pro-American policies and a few bad ones. His best service to the Nation would be to serve as the King-maker and bow out of the primary. Then look at what you could have as a ticket: DeSantis-Haley. Then Ramaswamy for Chief of Staff (think about it), Christie as Attorney General, Burgum heading up the Department of Energy, and good ol’ Pence as Secretary of State. Tim Scott should stay in the Senate and move up to Leadership.
That’s about all I have to say about that.
