Okay, I get it. The United States of America isn’t perfect. It had some faults and still does, but bigotry, with the exception of Class bigotry is no longer tolerated. More about Class bigotry later. But let’s use some Common Sense and make an assessment of our once predominate one-way public discourse. By that I mean television, broadcast, cable and internet streaming. In spite of internet social media, we still watch the tube for entertainment and the news. So here are some observations which are true but if stated publicly will get one branded as racist, homophobic, misogynistic, xenophobic . . .whatever the current elitist media wants to use to subjugate its audience. First of all, understand that the elitist media throws these terms around to make you feel as though you are ignorant. It’s like the diplomacy buzzwords of the 70s and 80s, perestroika, détente, glasnost, and gravitas. Throwing those terms around in the day would show your outstanding credentials, even if you didn’t have the slightest idea what those terms meant. Don’t look them up now. That’s a waste of time.
So, let’s look at today’s list of overused terms. Racist, that means you are white, or associate with white people, and are a conservative, maybe even a Republican or a Christian. Homophobic, that means you believe that there are two sexes, male and female. And, a male human is a man, and a female human is a woman. And only a man and woman can join together and procreate. Those beliefs are supported by the science called Biology, but according to a Supreme Court nominee, only biologists understand Biology. Misogynistic means you hate women and you blame your mother for that. Xenophobic means you don’t like people from other countries, mostly because you don’t like their race, religion or culture. It doesn’t matter which element you dislike, you just don’t like foreigners because, uh...they are different than you.
Now the predominate nasty defects, according to those in the know on CNN, are being racist or homophobic. But the media is going to solve that problem. Consider television commercials for example. African Americans or Blacks comprise 12.4 percent of the U. S. population. Now, as a reparation of sorts, Blacks are over-represented in TV commercials. The advertisers throw in a few token Hispanics and Asians to keep a “wokeness” balance of sorts. But to be sure the messaging is clear, they even increase the biracial element to show mixed race families, all living uncomplicated lives. But in truth, their lives are very complicated now. The advertisers and writers are doing the same thing with Homophobia.
Gallup finds that 7.1 percent of U.S. adults identify as being lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or something other than straight or heterosexual. But nearly every prime-time situation comedy or drama has some LGBTQ element or in some cases, it is the main theme of the show. Commercial programming is also doing its part to advance the lesbian and gay agenda. Bisexuality and transgenderism is apparently more difficult to represent, at least for now. But give them time, they will figure something out. Maybe in NCAA sports?
The two examples presented here, the problems of racism and homophobia, are being overstated by the proponents of Class bigotry. The Class bigots predominate the media, politics, Big Tech and entertainment industry. They are using their feigned love for minorities to retain power, prestige and money. Oh, and don’t forget the children. It’s all for the children. Releasing pedophiles early isn’t exactly good for the children. But who am I to say? I’m not a Supreme Court nominee. Perhaps that is too harsh. Maybe some are not faking their love for the downtrodden and the children. But, for some reason, they never really offer any actual help, just words. And words without beneficial action are just words.
Well said, Martin. We are reminded of George Orwell's Newspeak: "There is not a swifter route to the corruption of thought than through the corruption of language." Words like "homophobic" and "xenophobic," are invariably misused. "Phobic" implies an irrational fear; most normal, thinking people are not irrationally afraid of two people of the same sex who wish to marry or a young man who claims his gender is female. We can rationally object on grounds of morality or in the case of transgender on science -- xx and xy chromosomes cannot be changed in an individual born female or male. One problem with the culture and language is the result of a gradual change in journalism -- from objective and balanced to what is now taught in J-Schools as Advocacy Journalism, using the power of the press/media to advance ideological positions. That is why, currently, most journalists are suspect and the news business is no longer trusted.
