Half of my business and professional career involved the exploration and production of fossil fuels. It was a fair and honest endeavor, hardly a criminal enterprise. But I am not a “scientist.” I am an engineer and I have always thought that our job as engineers was to build useful things for humanity. And we have. Apparently, some scientists do not have an equivalent creed.
The members of the Union of Concerned Scientists promoted an effort to criminalize the fossil fuel industry based on the anti-tobacco litigation of the 1990s. This is where the Union of Concerned Scientists crossed the line by attacking the basic foundation of the United States of America, the right to Individual Freedom that the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were designed to protect. The corruptible posturing is spreading throughout Congress.
So let’s consider the Four Horsemen of The Green Apocalypse:
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D) Rhode Island and Senator Ed Markey (D) Massachusetts have both violated their oath of office by weaponizing the legislative process to pursue an agenda based on corrupted science. Whitehouse went so far as to seek legal action against not only the fossil fuel industry but individuals who disagreed with the “consensus of scientists.” There is no consensus in Science. What Whitehouse and Markey are pushing is fascism. In a Senate hearing, Alex Epstein shamed the Senator from Rhode Island with the following comment:
“As long as your life is being made possible by the people in the fossil fuel industry, I think you should be grateful, and I think it is a crime — a moral crime — that you are damning anyone by association,” . . . I wish Senator Whitehouse were here because what he is doing to the free speech of those companies and anyone associated with them is unconstitutional and I think he should apologize or resign.” --- Alex Epstein
Be sure to pre-order Alex Epstein’s new book, Fossil Future. It will be available May 24, 2022.
Epstein was right. But, Whitehouse hasn’t apologized or resigned. It is hard to understand why he doesn’t know his actions were wrong. But that is what political professionalism produces. According to author Andy May, “Whitehouse has the reputation of being the most obsessed with climate change of any senator. Between 2012 and 2018 Whitehouse gave 200 speeches on global warming on the Senate floor, generally by himself. He does not want to debate, or even discuss climate science, after all, in his opinion, that is settled science. He wants to discuss destroying the fossil fuel industry, this is what climate science means to him.” Andy May also has a new book called The Great Climate Change Debate:Karoly v Happer. It is available now.
Senator Markey was a cosponsor of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal. He was “catching the AOC wave” so to speak. He was about to lose re-election. As a congressman in 2009, he was the co-author of the Waxman-Markey bill, the only “comprehensive [according to him]” climate legislation ever to pass a chamber of Congress. Senator Markey, while a qualified attorney, has no scientific credentials. He is a professional politician with little experience in the private sector, if any. In 2011 Markey criticized Republicans and the Tea Party movement, saying “Rick Perry and these other guys are allergic to science...too many of the tea party people, who basically don’t believe in science, are now controlling the Republican Party.”
It would have been great if the Tea Party movement had been controlling the Republican Party, but it just wasn’t so. But Rick Perry, as the past Governor of the great state of Texas did know something about energy. And, for goodness sake, it takes some knowledge of physics to pilot a jet transport aircraft in the Air Force the way Perry did. Probably more technical knowledge than a professional politician educated in Boston might possess.
Markey sarcastically suggested in August 2010 that global warming deniers form their own country on an iceberg: “An iceberg four times the size of Manhattan has broken off Greenland, creating plenty of room for global warming deniers to start their own country.” This confirms that attorneys from New England have forgotten what took place in their states in the lead up to 1776.
Markey is also committed to reducing America’s military defense capabilities by championing the de-nuclearization cause. That worked well for Ukraine, right? Only the U. S. would follow-through on disarmament and become vulnerable, but Markey doesn’t understand that. The British tried to disarm the Colonies. That little tidbit is somewhere in the history of the State of Massachusetts. He does represent that great New England state but perhaps, history isn’t his forte.
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) New York has gotten way too much attention. So let me just say, she is a “useful idiot” for the Chinese and, in her ignorance of American cultural values, she is promoting a form of Progressivism that is very close to being Communism. That’s what Democratic Socialism means. You can read my opinions on her in Why the Green New Deal is a Bad Deal for America and Persistent Evil-Socialism: A Warning for Millennials. I called her a Dangerous Change Maker. Unfortunately, I appear to have been correct.
John Kerry is a tall man who, when he is “over his head”, doesn’t know it. His position as the Climate Change Czar isn’t about the climate. It is about the dream of a Global Community with the elites in charge. This is all about staying in power, staying rich, and fooling oneself into believing you’re doing good things for Humanity. His self-importance is obvious by his number of personal aircraft miles, and that is about it. He is just a narcissistic elitist and, like I said, “over his head.” And military veterans loathe him. He betrayed them more than once. Ask a Vietnam vet. He is the male equivalent of Jane Fonda. Nuff said.
Following the Four Horsemen we have Brandon. Let’s go Brandon.
