The mysteries abound. How old is the Universe? How old is the planet Earth? According to the Hubble equation the Universe began with the Big Bang 14.7 billion years ago. Now that was based on several discoveries such as background microwave radiation, the Doppler “red shift” and much more. A new theory suggests that perhaps photons “get tired” and slow down. Then the age of the Universe may be older than we think, maybe twice as old. Who knows?
Think about it. We, as human beings, are rather insignificant relative to the immense size of the Universe. Just thinking about that may force a person into a state of humility, or at least it should. Unfortunately, there are some “experts” who seem to think that we are more powerful than we really are. For example, if a “climate scientist” tells you that your use of coal, natural gas and oil to make your life more tolerable is actually destroying the planet, are you going to believe the scientist or your own common sense? And if you discover that the climate expert is fudging the facts, perhaps even making things up, are you still going to go along with the crowd—you know the “consensus of scientists?”
At the first Republican primary debate for 2024 hosted by Fox News, a student asked, “Polls consistently show that young people’s number one issue is climate change. How will you as both President of the United States and leader of the Republican Party calm their fears that the Republican Party doesn’t care about climate change?” Only Vivek Ramaswamy was brave enough to respond. He said, “[we need to] Unlock American energy, drill, frack, burn coal, embrace nuclear.”
According to Alex Epstein, perhaps he should have said:
“Let me make it clear to you. While humans do have some impact on the climate, there is a difference between climate impact, which is real, and climate catastrophe, which is not. The most important thing I can do to make your life better—something that will lead to a better economy, a lower cost of living, more well-paying job opportunities, a smaller deficit, and greater national security—is unleash American energy.
Energy is the industry that powers every other industry, the price of energy affects the price of everything: the lower cost energy is, the lower cost everything is—the higher cost energy is, the higher cost everything is. If we unleash American energy and allow every form of energy to achieve its potential—we will become the world’s energy superpower by far.
Joe Biden has strangled American energy with green energy fascism—using dictatorial power to stop crucial mining and drilling projects, shut down reliable power plants, and prevent vital new pipelines. The results of Biden’s green energy fascism, [disguised as the Inflation Reduction Act], are higher energy prices, an increasingly unreliable grid, and a deadly dependence on China, which controls the whole solar/wind/battery supply chain, produced, of course, by using coal-fired power plants. China is actively building over 100 new coal plants right now.
If elected President, I will unleash American energy with energy freedom policies, including: liberating domestic mining and drilling for all forms of energy, ending preferences for unreliable electricity [solar and wind], and decriminalizing nuclear energy.”
But in a debate, there is insufficient time to make such a long statement. I get it.
Here’s the deal, we humans are adding to the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere by burning fossil fuels. That may be increasing the earth’s surface temperature slightly. Chances are, we will keep burning fossil fuels and adding to the CO2 level, but it won’t increase the temperature much more. That’s the actual math and science anyway. The effect of CO2 on the temperature is logarithmic, the more you add to the atmosphere, the less effect it will have on the temperature. You could compare that to the economic Law of Diminishing Returns. Not quite the same but close enough. Carbon dioxide is a minor player in the “Greenhouse Gas” effect on temperature. The bigger player is water vapor. Unfortunately, we mere humans have little effect on water vapor and as Americans, we have next to zero effect on CO2 levels. Our increased use of natural gas has actually lowered our own CO2 emissions, but Biden Administration policies will probably lead to an increase in CO2 emissions world-wide as we ship coal and even timber to Europe and developing nations.
Catastrophic wildfires caused by forest and land mismanagement, not global warming, are adding CO2 to the atmosphere while simultaneously destroying the CO2 sequestering capability of the forests (and other vegetation) destroyed by the fires. The recent loss of life in Maui was due to land mismanagement and the diversion of funds to ill-advised renewable energy projects instead of power-line improvements. But facts are facts, the amount of wildfire destruction is trending downward and has been for several years. And so are the deaths from climate disruptions. But the costs of these disruptions are trending upward, almost entirely due to humans placing themselves in harm’s way. It’s like feeding the sharks then going swimming with them. What could happen?
Americans have seen a major disruption and downturn in the quality of their life, nearly all due to the continuing war on the use of fossil fuels. The war was instituted by three entities with very different motives. One group worships Mother Earth. Those are the ones preaching woe to today’s children. Another group seeks financial power and absolute control over your life. And the third entity seeks the destruction of America so that it can become the only Super Power.
The “Mother Earthers” are a type of religious cult with no self-awareness. They travel the world in fossil fueled private jets and preach moderation. Others see political and financial gain in the renewable energy industry, forgetting that there is no such thing as truly “renewable energy.” And the third entity, well that is obviously China. China has been masterful in manipulating the world financial markets, buying western politicians, and cornering the market on critical natural resources along with the manufacturing/distribution of those resources.
So back to the premise of this article. It is my personal belief that we are creations of the God of the Universe, not the Climate. Now that’s a spiritual belief, not a scientific statement. We are here to enjoy the gifts of God and each other. We have failed many times in doing that, but God has forgiven us through the ultimate gift of Jesus Christ.
Now I understand that Vivek Ramaswamy is a Hindu. That just means he hasn’t found Jesus yet. Give him time. Better to tell us the truth than fake it to get the Evangelical vote. But he knows that America’s culture and our government have been built on Judeo-Christian principles. The Founders believed that human rights were from God, not the State.
We are free to believe whatever we want to believe, even have no belief. You can worship Mother Earth if you want to. Just keep it to yourself and stay out of our homes and our wallets. But the basic philosophy, that Golden Rule is still there, just under the surface. That’s where faith, patriotism and love of family reside. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Sounds easy enough. But America has become more secular on its surface and that is the home of the mainstream elites which includes the media. They don’t live in a bubble, just the surface of a big bubble, a bubble that that is filling up with Truth and about ready to burst. Buckle up.
Why is it as a Christian, Amercan do we tend to sit on the sidelines and let everyone else tell us what to belive.
Stand up, stand up! Do not be shouted down but engage and stand strong for your beliefs.
